More than a week ago I told you that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), would have acquired the manufacturers of the technology that was the basis of the Xbox Kinect, but it seems that then the discussions were in the final stage and it would only have been completed today the agreement. The amount of purchase presumed by journalists would be between 300 and 350 million dollars, but we could also talk about a slightly lower figure, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), initially valuing the Israeli company at a reduced amount. Although PrimeSense, the company that is the object of this purchase, sold technology to Microsoft many years ago, for Xbox Kinect 2, launched this year, the company from Redmond did not use Israeli technology, but preferred to use technologies developed in its own research and development laboratories.

PrimeSense currently sells 3D sensors and other types of intermediate hardware to companies that produce televisions, mobile terminals, robots or medical devices, but in the case of Apple we are talking about interest in something else. It is speculated that Apple would intend to produce a TV whose interface would be controlled using gestures and voice commands, and PrimeSense's technologies would be extremely useful in this situation. Of course, iDevices could also benefit from the technologies developed by the Israeli company, but it remains to be seen if this time the purchase will be confirmed and if Apple will comment on it.
