Steve Jobs would not have wanted Apple to launch a television

Although it has been repeatedly said that Steve Jobs wants to revolutionize TV before dying, a new book published this weekend tries to prove the exact opposite. According to what was written by its author, in 2010 Steve Jobs would have stated in front of some managers Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), that his company will not launch any television. The statement was made by Jobs following questions asked by the company's managers during a meeting organized by those from Cupertino, his answer being made without any hesitation.

"Jobs didn't hesitate." He said, "No." "TV is a terrible business. They don't turn over and the margins suck," said Jobs. (Unlike iPhones which are wildly profitable and replaced every two years, a TV gets replaced every 8 years, and isn't all that profitable.)

The main reason why Steve Jobs he didn't want that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), to launch a television was based on the fact that the profit earned from the sale of these products is small, much too small to be worth the effort. Although he did not want a TV, Steve Jobs claimed that he wanted Apple to offer products that could replace home entertainment systems, but the Apple TV must be the main product in this category, at least until the American company manages to obtain from producers the content it needs.

Steve Jobs had a habit of making contradictory statements about his actions in the years following their implementation, so many did not fully believe him, but for now everything he said then turns out to be true, with Apple focusing more and more what's more on Apple TV.
