Innovation Labs 2.0 is a project supported by Orange Romania, helping young students to transform their great ideas into real businesses or products that have the power to change the world. Visiting in 2011 Silicon Valley, with the help of Orange, I learned a principle that is the basis of many American startups, entrepreneurs turning their ideas and dreams into reality starting from solving a problem encountered in everyday life. Although this principle is not implemented in our minds right from the school benches, I like to see that the students in Romania understand it and apply it within  Innovation Labs 2.0.

At the beginning of last month we presented the most important projects chosen by the Innovation Labs 2.0 jury, and today I offer you information about how the creations of the Polytechnic students evolved. From March until now, the finalist teams have had the opportunity to develop their ideas into projects that in the following months will be transformed into real products, with a group of local entrepreneurs helping them to improve their products and find effective methods of to monetize them.

In the list below you have the teams that presented their projects on Wednesday during Boost Day again on this page you can view video presentations of all their ideas.

  1. Agrobid (CageWare)
  2. PackSender
  3. Uprise
  4. Exhale
  5. CookPal (Cook Buddies)
  6. My Place (Coffee Coders)
  7. PillBuzz (Candy Crushers)
  8. Open Mind

  10. Nivalis
  11. wabbit

The creators of these projects participated in Tech Talks where mentors such as Julien Ducarroz, CCO of Orange Romania, they gave them information about how the digital world is evolving, details about how big companies work, but also advice for turning these projects into real products. Participating last week in the presentation of all the above projects, I was pleasantly impressed by the way each one evolved from a simple idea to a real product that will soon be able to be used by anyone, the entire initiative of those from Microsoft and Orange being worthy of all the praise.

In the next period Innovation Labs 2.0 enters the last phase of evolution, at the beginning of May, the winning projects will be chosen and will receive financing from a group of local entrepreneurs, and then I will tell you more.

What do you think about the initiative of those from Orange si Microsoft? Do you think that Romania should continue to support the great ideas of students?
