Apple is preparing to surpass Nokia in mobile phone sales

In Q1 2014 the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), sold 43.7 million iPhone-s, the figure being almost 7 million units less than the total number of mobile phones sold by Nokia. If you will forget in the image above you will notice that the sales of mobile phones Nokia they fell by 18.4% in a year, or by 11.4 million units, the market share of the Finns falling by 3%. In contrast, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), sold 16.8% more units of its iPhones, approaching the total sales of those from Nokia.

Apple reached a new first quarter record, breaking the 40 million unit mark. The company saw double-digit growth in Japan as well as across multiple developing markets, including Brazil, China, India, and Indonesia. Still, this made for the lowest year-over-year improvement among the leading vendors. What remains to be seen is when – not if – Apple's rumored large-screen models will arrive on the market, filling a gap in the company's portfolio that has been exploited by the competition.

Considering that Nokia was just a few years ago the biggest seller of mobile phones in the world, the situation in which the Finnish manufacturer has now reached is worrying. Nokia sold only half of the total number of mobile phones sold by Samsung, whose sales decreased by 0.3%, and if the trend continues, then Apple will surpass it by next year. Apart from Apple, Huawei had the biggest increase in mobile phone sales, this being 33.8%, double that of Apple.
