Apple could receive triple damages in the lawsuit won against Samsung

During this morning I told you that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), won a lawsuit filed against the company Samsung, the jury deciding that Samsung willfully infringed the patents of the Cupertino company. Although the verdict is not complete because one of the terminals about which Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), says it violates its technologies was not taken into account for determining the final compensation amount, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), they might take triple damage anyway. Everything is based on a principle of American law that allows a judge to triple the amount established as damages if the infringement was intentional, so that Samsung could pay over 360 million dollars.

The problem in this whole equation lies in the fact that the amount must be established by the judge who presents the case between the two companies and few believe that she could do this. Even so, the judge could decide to increase the amount considering that this is the second trial that she is presiding over and she has the right to defend Samsung, but we will find out more next week after the jurors decide the amount Apple will also receive it for the last terminal for which the violation of its invention patents was demonstrated.
