Swatch is attacking Apple for trademarking the name iWatch

I told you the other day that Swatch intends to attack the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for the registration of the name iWatch in order to use it for a SmartWatch which will be launched during this year. From a simple intention, those from Swatch they took action, notifying the authorities of the states where there are registered trademarks. notification attract attention authorities on the name iWatch and the similarity with the names protected by the Swiss producer, the intention being to block the registration iWatch or to cancel the registrations already made.

This is the normal procedure to protect your own brand name. We react like this for all other brand names that we have protected. If somebody wants to register a name that is too close to a name that we have protected, we fight against it.

Despite these actions, the CEO of Swatch claims that his company is not interested in suing Apple for these recordings, but probably this option will not be avoided by those from Cupertino. If Apple doesn't get the name it wants, then it will definitely be interested in suing Swatch to get it, and from here on it just remains to be seen which company has the bigger legal budget to support its claims.
