Romtelecom Gigabit competes with Fiberlink 1000 in certain areas of the country

Last year RCS-RDS has launched subscriptions Fiberlink 500 si Fiberlink 1000 through which it offers its clients the opportunity to download any files from the Internet at speeds up to 1 Gbps. Because no initiative of this kind stays alone for long, at the beginning of this year Romtelecom launched its own gigabit subscriptions for its customers, but for now only in certain cities in the country.

More precisely, in certain areas of Brasov, Bucharest, Iasi and Suceava they can be contracted gigabit subscriptions of Romtelecom, they operate based on the network FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) of the operator. Those who are in the coverage area of the FFTH network and have a subscription of 62 lei for internet with a speed of up to 200 Mbps, television and fixed telephony can opt to pay an additional fee of 10 RON and will have a gigabit connection.

Although a computer with medium to high performance is needed to be able to benefit from the full speed, the expansion of the offer for services of this kind is a good sign. For the time being, none of the operators provides details regarding the number of customers who access the gigabit networks, but as soon as UPC will come into force with a similar service, things will become much more interesting.
