A hacker blocks users' iPhones and iPads using the Find My iPhone system, demands money to unlock them

A completely and completely new situation is happening in the last days with iPhone si iPadthe ones from Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, a hacker blocking the devices to some users through the system Find My iPhone and asking for amounts between $50 and $100 to unlock them. In the image above you can see the message sent by the self-named hacker Oleg Pliss, a discussion thread long being active on the forum Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for this problem.

Everything happens for now only in Australia and only users who do not have a security code already set for the terminal are affected, because Find My iPhone do not change that code in case of a blockage. In this idea, all those who received the above message, but had a security code set, were able to unlock their terminals and continue using them without problems, even if they will receive similar messages in the future.

For now, no one knows for sure how the hacker would manage to block the devices, but it is assumed that it would be the result of a phishing attack, after which the hacker would have obtained the login data of Apple IDof users. Unfortunately, for now, apart from setting a security code for terminals, there is no other solution to solve the problem, all those affected having to change their login data for Apple ID.

Even though everything happens in Australia, things can go global very quickly, so you always have to be careful.
