As you already know very well, most manufacturers of mobile terminals are involved in lawsuits in which they are either accused of infringing the patents of others, or accuse others of these violations. In order to give us a picture of the price we, the consumers, pay for these processes a new study init reveals what is the true price of mobile terminals.

According to this study, 30% of the final price of a smartphone is represented by the licensing costs of the technologies implemented by various manufacturers. More precisely, based on the public information provided by various companies, $120 of the hypothetical price of a $400 smartphone is represented by the licensing costs of the terminal technologies, a rather large number for any type of smartphone.

In general, the licensing prices of the technologies are more expensive than the components used to provide those technologies to smartphones, and this sometimes determines the avoidance of the launch of some mobile terminals. Not many times have we seen that various manufacturers of mobile terminals have given up on launching certain devices on the market, and the exaggerated licensing costs were the basis of their decisions.
