Apple announces that some iPhone chargers have malfunctions and can be dangerous, it replaces them for free in Europe

During these days the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), published an important announcement on its website, warning iPhone owners that some models of chargers offered in the box or sold in stores may represent a danger for us. It is about the chargers sold between October 2009 and September 2012 and offered with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S.

In the picture above, the European company helps us identify problem adapters, so that on the left is the model A1300 is affected by problems while the model A1400 on the right side it has no problems. If you have an adapter with the A1300 indicator, then Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), replaces it for free through an authorized service that you can find using this page, and my recommendation is to search only Bucharest.

Additional details are available below and in this page.

Apple has determined that, in rare cases, the European 5W USB Power Adapter may overheat and present a safety risk. This adapter was shipped with all iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s models shipped between October 2009 and September 2012 in the countries listed below. This adapter was also marketed as a stand-alone accessory.

Customer safety is always a top priority for Apple, and we have voluntarily decided to exchange each affected power adapter with a new, redesigned adapter free of charge. We encourage customers to exchange any affected adapter for a new one as soon as possible using the exchange process below.

Note: Other Apple 5W USB Power Adapters are not covered by this program.

Adapter identification

Examine the label on the adapter and compare it to the images highlighted in red below. The identification of an affected adapter is done by the model number and the color of the "CE" letters.

An affected adapter has "Model A1300" and the letters "CE" in solid gray on the label. If you have a damaged adapter, stop using it and exchange it for a new one. Until you receive a replacement adapter, you can charge your iPhone via the USB cable connected to your computer.

A redesigned adapter has "Model A1400" on the label and the letters "CE" highlighted in gray. You don't need to change the adapter.

The process of change

Take the affected adapter to a participating Apple Authorized Service Provider. Starting from June 18, 2014, partner mobile phone operators will also participate in the program. As part of the switch process, we'll need to verify your iPhone's serial number. So take your iPhone with you.

The affected power adapter will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
