Vodafone expands 4G coverage in 9 cities in the country

  More than 2 months away from the expansion made by Orange to cover dozens of large cities in Romania, today the Vodafone company announces its own expansion, to a smaller number of cities. According to the mobile phone operator, 4G coverage in the new list of cities it will be 100% until the end of July, so in the meantime you will have 4G coverage in important areas and not on the outskirts.

  Below you have the entire list of cities where Vodafone has an active 4G network, the first of them being included in the expansion announced today, the rest being covered since 2013.

Vodafone Romania has expanded its 4G network in 19 large cities of the country, with speeds of up to 150 Mbps

  • Vodafone has expanded its 4G network in 9 more cities: Baia Mare, Botosani, Buzau, Braila, Oradea, Pitesti, Ploiesti, Sibiu and Tirgu Mures, along with Bucharest, Arad, Bacau, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi, Galati and Timisoara
  • 4G network coverage will be 100% of the population, in all 19 cities, until the end of July 

Bucharest, June 23, 2014- Vodafone, the best performing data network in Romania, has extended its 4G network coverage in 9 new cities, reaching a total of 19 cities.

Vodafone adds Baia Mare, Botosani, Buzau, Braila, Oradea, Pitesti, Ploiesti, Sibiu and Tirgu Mures to the 4G coverage area, along with the already existing cities: Arad, Bacau, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi, Galati , Timisoara and Bucharest. Vodafone offers users 4G speeds of up to 150 Mbps, and by the end of July, all 19 cities will have 100% coverage of the population.

We will continue the gradual expansion of the 4G network, so that, in the next two years, we cover the entire urban population of the country. The number of 4G terminals in our network has reached 160,000 and more and more customers of business services are adopting 4G solutions to benefit from the superior experience and increased efficiency brought by 4G technology", said Giovanni Chiarelli, CTO, Vodafone Romania.

For corporate clients, Vodafone Romania has implemented a series of state-of-the-art solutions, through 4G technology, such as a VPN solution for monitoring oil wells, video monitoring for one of the most important ports in the country, or a complete security solution, through video surveillance, with centralized data storage and access from smartphones and tablets.  

For private customers, Vodafone Romania has recently included 4G services in the entire range of RED subscriptions, at prices starting from 19 Euro/month (VAT included). More information is available on www.vodafone.ro/abonamente.

Vodafone Romania was recently certified for Business Continuity Management (BCM), according to the ISO 22301 standard, by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). Thus, Vodafone becomes one of the first companies in Romania and the first telecom operator in the country to receive this certification, demonstrating the capacity of recovery and continuity of its operations, in unforeseen situations. Also, Vodafone Romania is certified for Quality Management with ISO 9001 also by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). The two certifications attest including the area of ​​4G network operations.

At the same time, Vodafone is also certified for ISO 14001 Environmental Standards Management by LRQA, and the company was re-certified with the ISO 27001 standard for Information Security Management, following a full audit, carried out by KPMG Audit Plc.   

Vodafone has been certified 5 times, until now, as the best performing mobile data network among all GSM/UMTS/CDMA networks in Romania, by the independent auditor p3 Communications, since 2011.
