iDevice.ro mini review: Cosmote 4G internet

Starting from April, the mobile phone operator COSMOTE Romania announced the increase of internet browsing speed in its 4G network to 150 Mbps for download and 50 Mbps for upload, expanding at the same time coverage in Romania. Thanks to them, I had the opportunity to test the Cosmote 4G network in Bucharest, and in the following you will see the results obtained by me on a tablet iPad Air.

As can be seen from the pictures, the maximum speed obtained during the tests is 99 Mbps for download and 34 Mbps for upload, they being similar to those what is offered in internet subscriptions via modem. The response times for the tests done in COSMOTE's 4G network have proven to be very good for a mobile data connection and practically the differences between fixed high-speed and mobile connections are becoming smaller and smaller thanks to 4G networks.

Using a high-speed 4G network such as a COSMOTE, you will get real internet download speeds of up to 10 MB/s and up to 4 MB/s for upload, more than enough for any kind of tasks. Translating this into real tasks, you will hardly wait at all when watching videos on YouTube you can watch TV shows without buffering in the Dolce Mobile TV application powered by COSMOTE and you will be able to download video/audio podcasts very quickly through iTunes.

Also, for business users, the benefit of using the 4G network is a significant one, considering that voluminous files (reports, presentations, etc.) of 20 MB are transmitted in less than a second.

The stability of the network makes gaming possible without lags in demanding games that consume data traffic.

Of course, the speeds differ depending on the coverage for your area, so you can get better or worse results depending on the area where you are and doing the tests.

Improving their 3G network during 2014, those from COSMOTE they also invested heavily in the 4G network, so that they offer similar and even better performances, in some cases, compared to their direct competitors. At the moment COSMOTE's 4G network covers the cities of Bucharest, Bacau, Botoșani, Brăila, Predeal, Buzău, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Galati, Iasi, Bragadiru, Jilava, Otopeni, Baia Mare, Piatra Neamț, Busteni, Ploiesti, Sinaia, Satu Mare si Suceava and is in continuous expansion.

In the future, the people from Cosmote are already testing the 4G+ networks that allow us to reach speeds of up to 300 Mbps for internet browsing, and I for one can't wait to test it.
