RCS&RDS will launch Digi Mobil in Hungary

  Digi Mobil, the fourth mobile operator on the market in Romania, will soon have a subsidiary in HungaryRCS&RDS preparing to enter the market of the neighbors in the west of the country. Magyar Telecom, subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone si Telenor are the three main competitors of Digi Mobil in HungaryThose from RCS&RDS becoming the fourth mobile phone operator in the country.

Digi will pay 10 billion forints (32 million euros) for the right to use the frequencies, and it will take a year and a half to develop the network, according to the press release of the Hungarian media regulatory authority, NMHH. Until now, Digi provided cable television, internet and landline telephony services in Hungary.

  Following a strategy similar to the one used in Romania, RCS&RDS launch mobile phone services after years of offering internet, CATV and landline services, 32 million euros being the amount paid to obtain the right to use the frequencies necessary to launch the network. RCS&RDS will invest for a year and a half to develop its mobile telephony infrastructure in the country, the frequencies used by the operator being 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.800 MHz and 2.600 MHz.

  At the moment RCS&RDS provides various services in 6 European countries, they are: Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Italy and Serbia.
