Mac Mini 2014 has inferior performance to old models

Mac Mini 2014 was presented and launched by the Apple company at the end of last week, those from Cupertino taking the decision to no longer offer users the opportunity to choose models equipped with quad-core processors. This decision is not so great for future Mac Mini users because the new products have lower performance than the ones launched by Apple at the end of 2012, which are still equipped with quad-core processors.

As you can see from the image above, Mac Mini 2012 has almost double performance, in some cases, compared to Mac Mini 2014, the good part being that in single-core tests the performance is superior for the new model. Unfortunately, what matters are the multi-core tests because they show the true performance of a product, and in this case the lack of two cores for the processor offers lower performance, but this was to be expected for a change of this kind.

If you are wondering why Apple made this decision, well it is speculated that Apple decided not to implement quad-core processors in the 2014 Mac Mini because of the new Intel Haswell processors. These processors need two sockets to connect to the motherboard, if they have a quad-core processor, but only one for single-core processors, Apple being forced to produce two different motherboards for the product. In the past, processors needed only one motherboard socket, so Apple decided to completely abandon quad-core processors in order not to develop a different motherboard for 4-core processors.
