iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – Apple Pay will replace building access cards, public transport tickets and more

iPhone 6 and 6 iPhone Plus have implemented a system called Apple Pay, it uses an NFC chip to enable mobile payments at merchants that have a compatible POS. Even if at the moment the functionality of Apple Pay is limited only to this, in the future Apple plans to expand it, giving the terminals the possibility to replace access cards in buildings, tickets for public transport and much more than that.

The Apple representatives have talked to technology providers like HID Global and Cubic, which enable secure access to buildings and transit fare systems, respectively, said people briefed on the discussions. Spokespeople for the companies declined to comment about any discussions with Apple, but executives there discussed how they could integrate their systems with the iPhone.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are promoted by Apple as universal devices that i can replace a multitude of objects that communicate via NFC with various terminals, and the path currently chosen by the company offers a multitude of opportunities for product promotion. Practically the new terminals could allow company employees to enter the workplace using the phone instead of an access card, and in terms of access to public transport I think you can imagine for yourself how important the functionality could be.

Given that Apple is still in discussions with various partners to implement support in its terminals, it is unlikely that the features will become available until next year.
