An Apple partner showed off an Apple Watch feature before it was promoted by Apple (Video)

The Apple Watch will have a digital crown, or Digital Crown, which will be a rotary button similar to those existing in watches for setting the time, allowing the manipulation of the menus in use of the Apple product year. Although for some this implementation may seem completely new, in reality other companies have presented products with similar ideas in the past, one of them being visible in the video clip above. IBM, Apple's current partner, presented many years ago the WatchPad, a rudimentary model of a smartwatch that can be controlled using the same digital crown.

What we see in the image above was presented in 2001 by those from IBM, so Apple came extremely late with a similar implementation, but the strange thing is that other competitors have not done it until now. It is difficult to say now if the partnership between Apple and IBM includes the possibility of using this technology and the two companies have collaborated for the development of the Apple Watch, but what we see clearly is that Apple did not invent the idea of the digital crown with the future smartwatch that will be released on the market next year.
