Corning presents the Gorilla Glass testing laboratory (Video)

Gorilla Glass is the name of the front panels that protect the mobile screens of most of the smartphones and tablets sold in recent years on the market, and today we have the opportunity to see how they are tested by the Corning company. A team of a service specialized in the repair of mobile terminals was invited by Corning to film the testing process of Gorilla Glass panels, the company's New York laboratory being presented in the images.

Gorilla Glass protects iPhone or Samsung Galaxy terminals, iPad tablets and those of competitors, and in the video clip above you can see what kind of tests verify the hardness of the panels and their ability to withstand bumps and scratches. Gorilla Glass is manufactured using a process called ion exchange, which keeps the glass resistant even after scratches or hits received during use, the product being the most appreciated in the industry for its qualities.

This year the Apple company tried to get rid of dependence on Gorilla Glass by using sapphire glass panels to protect iPhone screens, but unfortunately it failed to perfect the manufacturing process of this material. Despite this, Gorilla Glass 4 was launched on the market and already implemented in a first smartphone, such as iPhone 6S could benefit from the protection offered by this new product, but only during the next year.
