The tablet market registers the first drop in sales in recent years

tablet sales 2014

Q4 2014 was a very profitable year for the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, but also for some tablet sellers, their market share increasing including to the detriment of those from Cupertino. In the image above you can see the sales figures for tablets in Q4 2014, the company Lenovo being the only one from the top 5 that recorded an increase in sales. Apple, Samsung, ASUS and Amazon they recorded substantial decreases in market shares, but also in sales, maintaining their positions despite the fact that their products were no longer as attractive.

If in Q4 2013 78.6 million tablets were sold worldwide, in the same period of 2014 only 76.1 million tablets were sold. We are talking about a decrease of 2.5 million units in the global sales of tablets, more precisely the market contracting by 3.2% in the face of the decrease in the popularity of this type of product. If the big manufacturers recorded decreases in sales of tablets globally, the small manufacturers recorded an increase of almost 50% in sales, but this did not help to maintain the total number of tablets sold in the world.

Despite the fact that Q4 2014 was no longer as profitable as the last fiscal quarter of 2014, total sales for 2014 were 4.4% higher than 2013, the increase being 10 million units. Having said that, tablets are no longer as popular as they were in the past, and in 2015 we could witness the first decrease in total sales for recent years.
