If you use a mobile terminal, a laptop, an MP3 Player or a console every day, then you might be affected by a problem that applies to a very large number of young people around the world. According to a study carried out in Norway on 10.000 young people between the ages of 16 and 19, the majority of those who constantly use various gadgets during the day and before going to bed fall asleep harder and sleep less. Study results reveals the fact that young people who use these gadgets for more than 5 hours a day need 3.5 times more time to fall asleep and sleep less than 5 hours a night.

Those who used gadgets including MP3 players, video game consoles, tablets, smartphones, and computers for more than five hours a day were three-and-a-half times more likely to sleep for fewer than five hours at night, and 49 percent more likely to need more than an hour to get to sleep.

Without discovering the cause of the problem underlying the fact that people fall asleep more difficult when using these gadgets, the researchers established with certainty the connection between them and sleep-related problems. Personals who used a computer or a smartphone during the day and in the hour before sleep proved to have the highest chances of losing two hours of sleep per night due to gadgets. Those who used tablets or watched TV a maximum of 2 hours before going to bed had a longer and more peaceful sleep.

Practically, this study demonstrates again the fact that the use of bright screens in dark rooms before going to bed affects sleep, so you must be careful how you prepare to go to bed.
