Apple and Japan Display could build a factory

Japan Display is one of the main suppliers of screens for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touches, and together with Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), could invest in building a factory in Japan. Ishikawa is the location where the new factory would be built, and as you probably already imagined, it would be dedicated to the manufacture of LCD screens for mobile terminals. According to the initial information, the Apple company intends to invest no less than 1.7 billion dollars in the project, but at the moment it is not known how much those from Japan Display would be willing to invest.

According to the information discovered so far, the future factory would follow to produce polycrystalline silicon screens similar to those used by Apple in terminals iPhone 6 si 6 iPhone Plus at the moment. Apart from these screens dedicated to iPhones, and possibly iPad tablets, the factory could also produce dedicated OLED screens Apple Watchwhich will be launched in April on the market. The interesting part of this project is that the factory would not produce screens exclusively for Apple, so that Japan Display could sell components to other partners.

Although at first glance the initiative may seem extremely interesting for the shareholders of Japan Display, the year 2014 showed us that partnerships of this kind do not end well for those who work with Apple. Here I am talking about those from GT Advanced, a company with which Apple built a factory in Arizona for producing sapphire panels dedicated to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Those from GT Advanced failed to fulfill their obligations towards the Apple company, so that the latter refused to make the promised payments as part of the partnership, so that GTAT went bankrupt.

This is a very good proof of the fact that a partnership with Apple is not necessarily a good thing, but if Japan Display will agree to the initiative, things could be different.
