American analysts have unrealistic expectations from the Apple Watch

Apple Watch estimated sales

Apple Watch will be presented in less than a week by the Apple company and American analysts are starting to offer their estimates regarding the sales that the future Apple watch will have after the official launch. According to Tim Cook, Apple Watch will initially be launched only in the US, followed by Europe and other regions around the globe to have it available with a gap of at least one week. Asking American analysts what estimates they have regarding Apple Watch sales, those from Forbes learned that analysts expect Apple to sell between 8 million and 41 million units.

If the first digit is in a good measure close to the truth, the one of 41 million units is exaggerated for a smartwatch that does not have the power to generate such high sales in the first year. The average of analysts' estimates is 22.47 million units Apple Watch sold in 2015 and it is hard to say if Apple will manage to convince so many people to buy such a product. If we look at the fact that in the whole year 2014 6.8 million smartwatches were sold by a multitude of manufacturers, it is hard to say whether Apple will succeed in doubling these sales with its product.

Smartwatches are not as necessary products as a mobile phone or a tablet, so estimating sales of 41 million units sold in a year seems exaggerated, from my point of view. On March 9, the Apple Watch will be presented by the Apple company along with all its customization options, so then we will find out all the details about it.
