Apple Watch – accurate sensors and unscratchable sapphire (Video)

Apple Watch it was delivered this week to a very large number of customers around the globe, but it also reached the testing laboratories of many reviewers, among them those from Consumer Reports. Recognized as some of the most accurate reviewers of electronic products, Consumer Reports claims that the front panel of the Apple Watch Sport is extremely hard to scratch, only with objects whose hardness reaches degree 7 on the Moh's scale.

In what what about Apple Watch made of stainless steel, whose screen is protected with a sapphire glass, those from Consumer Reports claim that scratching is impossible in their tests. Of course, in these tests they did not use a diamond, which would have scratched the sapphire, but it is unlikely that any regular user will ever go through such a problem.

The sapphire crystal performed as expected, which is to say very well. It survived a 9-rated pick from our kit. The Apple Watch Sport made it up to a 7-rated pick without damage, but was scratched by an 8-rated pick. So the face of the Apple Watch is definitely harder than that of the Apple Watch Sport. But the performance of the hardened glass of the Sport model is pretty impressive as well. An 8 on the Mohs scale is equivalent to topaz, just one step below sapphire.

Separated from Apple Watch endurance tests which I have seen on other occasions, the people from Consumer Reports claim that the sensors used by the Apple company for the watch are accurate. Both the sensor for measuring heartbeats and the one for measuring the steps taken by users are accurate, but considering the complex testing process, this was to be expected.

With this recommendation from Consumer Reports, the Apple Watch becomes even more attractive to Americans, many people basing their purchase intention on the tests of this publication.
