iOS 8.4 – Apple could delay the launch!

iOS 8.4 release delayed - iDevice.ro

iOS 8.4 is the upcoming version of the operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and as you already know very well, two beta versions have been made available to application developers for the iOS platform. From these two beta versions we learned that Apple is preparing the launch of a new Music application, Music, for its iDevices, this one having a completely modified interface that brings many new functions.

The release of iOS 8.4 was prepared by the Apple company for June 8, after the opening conference WWDC 2015, but it seems that the plans of those from Cupertino are changing due to some recent problems. iOS 8.4 and the new Music app will bring a new audio streaming service that is a combination of iTunes Radio and Beats Music, but Apple would not have succeeded in obtaining the consent of all partners for the launch.

A June launch is still achievable. One source notes that Apple has been able to quickly secure licensing deals in the past. "If any company can pull it off, they can," the source tells Billboard, adding that "labels are more likely to play ball with them" because of Apple's track record of generating revenue for rights holders. Another major label source believes the Beats Music re-launch isn't coming soon. "June won't be the release date. The deals aren't done."

The difficulties in obtaining the necessary licenses for the playback of multimedia content could overturn Apple's plans regarding the release of iOS 8.4, as a multitude of partners are not satisfied with the licensing conditions. Considering this problem, not even sources within Apple not 100% convinced about what will happen in June, some claiming that iOS 8.4 will be released, while others have a different opinion.

The other days it was announced that Apple is being investigated by the US Department of Justice because of the way they try to force the big record companies to give up their agreements with Spotify. More precisely, Apple is trying to convince these record companies to cancel Spotify's licenses to give users the option to play music for free, these actions being non-competitive and will probably attract sanctions for those from Cupertino.

Until then, iOS 8.4 remains as having a high probability for release in June, but whether this will happen or not we will find out on June 8, when WWDC 2015 will start.
