What new functions is Apple preparing for the Home button?

Apple home buttonApple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is preparing a whole suite of new functions for its iPhone, iPad and iPod Touches, the American company looking for new ways to offer users new options to control the terminals. The changes are presented in a patent granted to Apple by the American authorities and we are talking about an advanced system to control iOS through the Home button, all without touching the screens in any way.

The new functions offered through the Home button are based on the interaction with the Touch ID system, so simple touches of the portion where the fingerprint reader is located, Apple using it now only to activate the Reachability system. In the future, those from Cupertino intend to use touches of the Home button to open the Spotlight search system, or to offer various functions for games available in the App Store.

One of the functions presented by Apple for games is based on adjusting the target in applications by simply touching the Home button and rotating the finger without touching the screen and blocking the view of the action. Regarding the operating system, Apple imagines that we could block the orientation of the screen with the finger, the way the finger is oriented on the reader controlling the orientation set for the screens of our terminals.

The functions described by the Apple company would certainly make it easier to use the iPhone or iPad terminals, but considering that we are only talking about a patent, no one knows when or if they will be implemented. At the moment, Touch ID is used to unlock terminals, authorize payments or downloads through the App Store, authorize mobile payments and activate the Reachability system.

For the future, it seems that Touch ID will be at the center of a multitude of other extremely interesting functions, but it remains to be seen how long it will take until Apple offers them to us through its iOS. What do you think about this functionality described for Touch ID?
