The change was not officially announced by Apple, and it also applies to those who have already ordered an Apple Watch from the Apple Store, so these people will benefit from a much faster delivery of an order. The improvement in delivery times applies to almost all 42mm Apple Watch models, the only exception being those with black stainless steel bracelets, which are delivered in 6-7 weeks.
The change also affects some models of the Apple Watch Sport, especially the gray ones, here Apple also lists delivery times of 5-7 weeks, instead of July, as previously mentioned. Considering that these types of products are extremely sought after, it was normal for delivery times to be long, but Apple is starting to cover the demand on the market.
Yesterday the CEO of Quanta, the company that produces the Apple Watch for Apple, said that the production of the new smart watch suffered due to problems in hiring people on the production lines, but that things have been resolved. Practically now, Quanta is operating at maximum capacity producing the Apple Watch, but the effects will be fully felt only in the following weeks.
