Xiaomi will buy Blackberry

Xiaomi buys BlackberryXiaomi will buy Blackberry, or at least that's what the CEO of Xiaomi claims on Weibo, China's largest social network, he used to make various important announcements there. Today's statement is not really that surprising, considering that about a week ago we found out that Microsoft, Xiaomi, Lenovo and other companies are interested in buying Blackberry at the moment.

Although there is currently no clear information regarding possible discussions between Xiaomi and Blackberry regarding a possible acquisition, the Chinese CEO rarely makes false statements, so anything is possible. Of course, he did not announce the fact that any discussions had been concluded regarding the acquisition of the Canadian company and there are very high chances that an acquisition will never take place and not because of financial misunderstandings.

Blackberry is currently the company with the most smartphones used by government agencies, heads of state, leaders of government agencies, etc. Considering that there is a danger that a Chinese company will buy Blackberry and have unlimited access to its infrastructure, there is a very high chance that the Canadian government, and not only, will oppose this sale.

None of the Western governments will look favorably on a possible acquisition that Xiaomi would intend to make, and if in the end Blackberry succeeds in obtaining permission to sell the company, its customers will probably give up the services. No government wants to have services offered by one of the Asian countries and I find it hard to believe that Obama, or future American presidents, will use smartphones controlled by the Chinese.

Having said that, although the CEO of Xiaomi says that his company will buy Blackberry, if he does, then he will be without the big government customers that still keep the Canadian company running.
