Romanian Post: eMAG parcels can be picked up from some post offices

eMAG partnership Romanian Post deliveryRomanian post announced during this day a partnership concluded with eMAG, the largest online store in Romania, for the delivery of parcels to post offices, customers being able to pick them up directly from there.

Through a press release published during this day, Romanian National Post Company announced the initiation of the strategic project through the service Postcollect, for now only the post offices in Targoviste and Buzau have been chosen to be part of the partnership.

As part of this project, those post offices will have extended hours in the evenings and on weekends to allow customers to pick up their parcels almost whenever they have free time, and the main benefit of this service is the reduced shipping cost for parcels.

Basically, if you don't want your package to arrive directly at your door in the shortest possible time, you can wait a few days until it is delivered to one of the two post offices, initially, but as the project expands, you will be able to receive parcels almost anywhere in the country.

Romanian Post and eMAG, in a strategic partnership through the Postcollect service

Bucharest, July 14, 2015 - Romanian Post National Company start collaboration with eMAG, through which the national postal service operator delivers parcels to the online retailer's customers. The partnership marks the launch of a new service belonging to the Romanian Post - Postcollect – which offers customers the opportunity to pick up their ordered products from a fixed point, respectively from the preferred postal unit. In the pilot phase of the project with eMAG, Pošta Română started delivering parcels to the retailer at Buzău Post Office 7 and Târgovişte Post Office 4.

Specifically, the national postal service operator will pick up, sort and deliver the partner's parcels at the headquarters of the two postal subunits, depending on the customer's choice, which can be made with a single click on the retailer's website. The Romanian Post's strategy aims to expand the Postcollect service in over 800 post offices with VPN access. All the targeted units - and, in the pilot phase, OP Buzău 7 and OP Târgovişte 4 - will have dedicated counters, extended hours, in the evening and on weekends.

"The contract with eMAG is extremely important in the Romanian Post's strategy to expand its market share in the online commerce segment. At the same time, eMAG is the ideal partner to implement an innovative project like Postcollect. We hope that the partnership with the largest online retailer will confirm the ability of the Romanian Post to quickly adapt to changes on the postal services market", stated Alexandru Petrescu, Director General of Romanian Post.

eMAG shipments are monitored in the Track&Trace system throughout their entire journey, from presentation to delivery. Recipients will be notified by eMAG, through an SMS, when the parcels are handed over to the Romanian Post. After the package arrives at the delivery point (OP Buzău 7 or OP Târgovişte 4), the Romanian Post will notify the recipients, also via SMS, that the shipment is available for pickup at the post office. Parcels are delivered to the premises of the two post offices through dedicated counters, visibly marked, with the customer having the option of opening the parcel to check the contents.

"eMAG customers, their buying experience, are essential benchmarks for any of our progress and evolution initiatives. Based on their feedback, we created the possibility that, for customers whose busy schedule does not always allow them to opt for home delivery, there is the option of picking up the products from a fixed, accessible point, on the way to work or home", stated Iulian Stanciu, General Director of eMAG.

According to the concluded contract, at this stage of the project, the Romanian Post can keep the approved parcels, in the two post offices, for 10 calendar days from the date of their collection from eMAG. The time in which the parcel will arrive at the delivery point is two days at most, which can be extended by one more day if eMAG exceeds the delivery time limit.
