In Q2 2015 Telekom Romania had total revenues of 250,5 million euros, higher than in Q2 2015, subscription customer base growing by 4.3%, business customer base growing by 6.4%, all this while 124.000 customers chose services integrated.

Telekom Romania Communications and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications announce the main performance indicators for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015, ended June 30, 2015, reported today by OTE Group.

"The success of the integrated services offered under the MagentaONE umbrella is reflected by steady growth, with more than 124.000 customers at the end of June, 36.000 more than in the first quarter of this year. The mobile operations business portfolio continued to grow, with a 6,4% increase in customer base and 18,8% higher service revenue. Moreover, the dynamic deployment of FTTH technology continued in Q2. In the medium to long term, we expect this to generate positive results in terms of revenue and subscribers, and we expect new and existing customers to choose the benefits of this technology," he said. The financial results reported by Telekom Romania Communications for Q2 2015 keep the same direction as those of Q1 2015, with growth rates in key areas such as integrated offers and TV. Revenues were 150,5 million euros, 0,5% higher than in Q2 2014. For the first half of 2015, revenues were 299,2 million euros, 2,3% lower than in the first half of 2014. ProForma EBITDA for Q2 2015 was 26,1 million euros, 41,9% lower than in Q2 2014, reflecting the impact of direct costs such as interconnection, devices and IT products such as and the low level recorded by other incomes.

The number of customers using MagentaONE integrated services exceeded 124.000, which generated a relevant increase in mobile revenue of 170% in Q2 2015 vs. Q2 2014.

Positive figures were also reported for TV services. The customer base grew by 2,7% in Q2 2015 to 1,42 million. Corresponding revenues for Q2 2015 increased by 5,8% compared to Q2 2014. The intensive deployment of FTTH, on which interactive TV services are based, was reflected in an increase in IPTV subscribers, most of them from large cities. TV customers have access to www.telekomtv.ro, an over-the-top service that offers a complete multi-screen experience. The TV-focused strategy is based on providing the best technology and quality, as well as offering exclusive content such as UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Formula 1 and NBA, available only on Dolce Sport. 

The number of fixed broadband subscribers in the quarter reached 1,207 million. Broadband subscribers in areas where FTTH is available benefit from speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

At the end of Q2 2015, FTTx coverage reached 25 cities in total and approximately 1,3 million households.

Wholesale revenues of Telekom Romania Communications increased by 2% compared to Q2 2014.

Telekom Romania Mobile Communications

Telekom Romania Mobile Communications recorded stable results in Q2 2015, with revenues of 105 million euros, registering an increase of 3,3% vs. Q2 2014.

The business segment grew by 6,4% annually, while revenues from services in the B2B segment increased by 18,8% in Q2 2015 vs. Q2 2014, thanks to mobile data consumption, which doubled compared to the same period last year, registering a growth of 101%.

This performance was driven by the success of the Telekom brand, with increasing relevance and notoriety as a provider of mobile solutions for the business segment, as well as attractive voice and data subscriptions that include smartphones or tablets.

In Q2, Telekom Romania Mobile Communications added to its business client portfolio accounts from the public sector (such as ANAF and the Ministry of Finance) and from the private sector, from various industries. Among them, Profipet Com SRL – the largest import and distribution company in the field of pets and horse riding in Romania and Bulgaria and Blaxy Premium Resort & Hotel SA, an important player in the hotel industry, for which Telekom Romania Mobile Communications, together with Telekom Romania Communications, offered mobile and fixed services, including customized solutions.

The customer base (including Zapp) remained relatively stable at the end of Q2 2015 at around 5,9 million. The postpaid customer base increased by 4,3% compared to Q2 2014, reaching 28% of the total customer base.

The ProForma EBITDA margin, of 21,8% in Q2 2015, decreased by 3,7pp vs. Q2 2014, reflecting the impact of regulatory measures. Pro Forma EBITDA was 22,9 million euros in Q2 2015. Blended ARPU increased by 1,2% in Q2 2015 vs. Q2 2014.

Currently, Telekom Romania offers 4G coverage for 57% of the urban population and for 32,4% of the total population (urban and rural). In Bucharest, 4G covers 98% of the city's surface, while in Brașov and Poiana Brașov, the main tourist destinations, the coverage is 98% and 100%. In addition, Telekom offers an advanced connection based on dual carrier HSDPA 3G technology that allows speeds of almost 43,2 Mbps in 271 cities and over 5.287 localities.
