Orange announces Wi-Fi calls, Wi-Fi Calling

Orange Wi-Fi calls, Wi-Fi CallingOrange announced today its intention to launch the Wi-Fi Calling function, in its own network from November 2, the mobile phone operator implementing the functionality exclusively for our country.

I was present at the Orange conference where the new functionality was announced and I received one Wi-Fi calling on iPhone 6 Plus, but the functionality will initially be available for use only from November 2.

For those of you who don't know this yet, the function of Wi-Fi calls, Wi-Fi Calling, allows us to make phone calls through a Wi-Fi network at times when GSM connectivity is very weak or unavailable in the location where we are, but we have a Wi-Fi HotSpot nearby.

Practically, if you are somewhere in the mountains, in the country or in a block where the GSM reception is very bad, this depends on Wi-Fi calls, Wi-Fi Calling, allows you to initiate or receive phone calls using a Wi-Fi connection and its Internet connection, this is practically the basis of its functionality.

iPhone terminals are capable of initiating Wi-Fi calling and Apple has partners in the USA that offer this functionality, but in Romania it is unlikely that from November 2nd we will be able to do all these things directly from our own iPhones, or at least that's how things look now.

I could not tell you to what extent the functionality of Wi-Fi calls, Wi-Fi Calling, will be extended to most types of mobile phones offered by the Orange Romania mobile operator, but as new information appears I will let you know .
