By acquiring Mapsense, the Apple company ensured that the enormous amounts of data that are used in Apple Maps can be structured more easily and accessed more easily in order to provide information for users, the change being able to even increase the speed with which information is displayed in Apple Maps.

While collecting location data has become mainstream, the traditional tools to visualize, understand, and harness it have been hampered by the speed and scale of this massive and complex new datasource. To buy Mapsense, the Apple company would have paid between 25 million dollars and 30 million dollars for the team of 12 employees who developed the company's software, they will be part of the Apple division that develops Apple Maps.
