Apple is developing an inductive charging system

Apple induction chargingApple is developing an inductive system for its terminals iPhone sold all over the world, those from Cupertino having recently registered a patent that describes the way in which the technology works for users.

The inductive charging system of those from Apple allows charging the iPhone by induction without using a special case for this procedure, the components required for charging being already implemented in the terminal right from the moment of its manufacture in China at Foxconn.

What this technology of inductive charging for iPhone brings new compared to other existing solutions for smartphones is the fact that Apple would use existing components even now in its terminals to charge the battery without using any other type of new component in the terminals.

Specifically, Apple describes a two-coil system that allows induction charging for iPhone, one of the coils providing the energy, the second taking it to send it to the battery, the latter existing in components such as speakers, vibrating motors, Taptic Engine, etc.

A first electronic device includes a first coil that is operative in at least two modes. In a first mode, the first coil may be used to move a membrane to produce one or more sound waves, register movement of a membrane to detect one or more sound waves, or generate one or more haptic outputs. In the second mode, the first coil may be used to inductively transmit power to and/or inductively receive power from a second coil included in a second electronic device. In various cases, the second coil may be a dedicated inductive power transmission coil.

Basically, Apple describes a very simple method to implement an inductive charging system for the iPhone without offering a very complicated solution, the idea of those from Cupertino being able to be applied without having to license inductive charging systems from various manufacturers.

Although the idea from Apple is very good, the inductive charging system for the iPhone is still quite far from implementation, so do not have any illusions that it will be offered next year with the iPhone 7.
