Pandora is the first "victim" of Apple Music

Apple Music the victimApple Music was launched at the end of June by the Apple company for users all over the world, and the other day we learned about the first "victim" made by the new audio streaming service from Cupertino.

Pandora is the service affected by Apple Music, the company reporting that the number of listeners decreased by more than 1 million compared to the second fiscal quarter of 2015, in which Apple Music does not exist, the company having a total of 78.1 million listeners at the end of the third fiscal quarter of 2015.

Those from Pandora of course, it tries to minimize the impact on its own services, saying that the decrease in the number of listeners is similar to the one recorded during 2013 when iTunes Radio was initially launched, the company's management expecting this decrease.

Investors did not look at the situation with so much indulgence, so the value of Pandora's shares fell by approximately 30% during the day yesterday when the announcement regarding the decrease in the number of listeners was made, so we are talking about the first "victim" of Apple Music.

...we expected some short-term impact to our audience  growth as listeners tried this highly‐promoted new service. I am pleased to say that, given the scale of press and consumer attention on this launch, the impact on our active users and listening hours was muted.

Tim Cook said this week that Apple Music has 15 million users with 6.5 million subscribers, the figures being much lower than those of Pandora or Spotify, but we are talking about a service available for only three months on the market and which seems to be quite successful.

The problems generated for those from Spotify are probably also encountered in the case of Spotify, so it will be interesting to see what the representatives of this company will announce.
