Apple has confirmed the localization system in buildings which I talked to you about this morning, it being offered to certain people through an application from the App Store called Indoor Survey.
This application allows those who use it to locate inside the buildings and we knew that it is dedicated only to certain collaborators of the Apple company, and now we also find out who has access to it to benefit from the technology of those in Cupertino now.
More precisely, the Apple company allows the owners of various locations to participate in the development of the localization system inside the buildings, they have to register through the page dedicated to the registration of premises, restaurants or businesses in the Apple Maps system, as you can see in the image above .
In order for a license to be included in the development program of the localization system inside the buildings, they must be accessible to anyone, they must have at least 1 million visitors per year, they must have extremely accurate and detailed maps and must have Wi-Fi in all public areas.
Thank you for your interest in Apple's new indoor positioning technology. We have received an overwhelming response on this service and we are prioritizing our efforts to focus on venues with the following attributes:
- Accessible to the general public
- Annual visitors in excess of 1 million per year
- Availability of complete, accurate, and scaled reference maps
- Enabled with Wi-Fi throughout
- Associated app is authorized by venue owner
I told you that Apple bought a company called WiFiSLAM that allows location inside buildings using Wi-Fi, and what Apple describes to its employees seems to be exactly what the company bought by those from Cupertino offered last year.
No one knows when this indoor location system will be launched, but since Apple is already testing it with partners who have a large number of annual visitors, it is clear that it is in a very advanced development process in order to launches.
