iPhone 7 – two big changes made possible by the removal of the audio port

The iPhone 7 will not have a standard audio port, and we have known this for more than a month because so many rumors have confirmed this change that it is almost impossible to believe that Apple will decide to keep the audio port in the terminal that will be launched in the fall.

Removing the audio port from iPhone 7 it still brings new opportunities for the Apple company, and a US investment firm recently announced to its investors about the plans it understood that Apple would implement in the near future.

An extra speaker

The space left free by removing the audio port from the iPhone 7 it would be used by the Apple company to implement a second speaker in its smartphone, so that iPhone 7 will have stereo speakers if the information that appeared today is true.

At the moment all iPhones have a single speaker at the bottom and one at the top just for phone calls, but iPad tablets have had stereo speakers for some time, and a iPhone 7 with stereo speakers it seems very likely in the context of the elimination of the audio port.

We still believe there is potential for AAPL to add ANC in the IP7S but believe AAPL is including just the digital headphone in the IP7 this year. We do believe there are aftermarket AAPL and Android opportunities this year, and we have included only 7.5M units in FY17 as those sales. Recent speculation surrounding the elimination of the headphone jack in the IP7 is consistent with this move as AAPL will need to provide a digital headset inbox but likely was not willing to spend the extra cost for the ANC functionality.

Lightning headphones without canceling ambient noises

The second big change made possible by the removal of the audio port from the iPhone 7 is switching to Earpods Lightning headphones, the Apple company avoiding to offer for free wireless Earpods headphones, so you don't have to expect something like that from those from Cupertino.

Offering only Lightning headphones, the Apple company will not implement in them any technology for canceling ambient noises, it will still implement a DAC converter to allow the use of these accessories with its future terminal.

iPhone 7S it is going to include a system for canceling ambient noises in headphones, but until its appearance we have to wait another year and a half, a lot can change until then.

That being said, The iPhone 7 without an audio port will come with an extra speaker and Lightning headphones which do not have a system for canceling ambient noises.
