iPhone 7 – major investments made to manufacture the A10 chip

iPhone 7 will have a A10 chip produced by the Taiwanese company TSMC, it being chosen by the Apple company for the exclusive manufacture of the new SoC dedicated to the future smartphone, those from Samsung apparently being overlooked due to the chipgate scandal.

According to some Asian sources, TSMC has invested no less than 81.8 million dollars in the purchase of equipment that it will use in order to manufacture the new A10 chip of the iPhone 7, the figure being a small one for a company dedicated to this type of production.

For the entire year 2016, those from TSMC have set a budget of 9-10 billion dollars for the development of factories for the production of chips using a 10nm manufacturing process, but also for production using the highly praised InFO technology.

Those from TSMC have been partners of Apple for 2 years, but in 2016 they would obtain most of the contracts for the manufacture of chips dedicated to iDevices, because separately from the new A10 chip, the Taiwanese will also manufacture chips A7, A8 or A9 for Apple.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has purchased facility equipment from M+W High Tech Projects Taiwan and United Integrated Services (UIS) for a total of about NT$2.72 billion (US$81.8 million), according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).

iPhone 7 is to be launched in September by the Apple company, and the production of A10 chips would most likely start in June or July, so that the components reach Samsung for the assembly of the new smartphones.
