Apple negotiated with BMW and Daimler to manufacture its own car

Company Apple was involved in advanced negotiations with BMW and Daimler for one of the two companies to produce the future car that those from Cupertino intend to launch on the market by 2020.

Negotiations with BMW failed last year, while negotiations with Daimler failed in the spring of this year, the Apple company wanting to fully control the data regarding the use of the car and to integrate multiple services iCloud, the Germans having different ideas.

Both negotiations were reported last year by European and US publications, and although they ended without a positive result for the Apple company, there are still chances that they will be resumed this year or next year.

I told you the other day that Apple would be interested in collaborating with an Austrian subsidiary of the Magna company, assembling cars for BMW, but it remains to be seen if the negotiations will have the same finality as in the case of those with BMW or Daimler.

German carmakers Daimler and BMW have ended talks with Apple over a cooperation deal on an electric car. Apple's plan has been to develop a highly-networked electric car that would also be at least partially self-driving. Sources said the talks with both German carmakers collapsed over the key questions of who would lead the project and, above all, which company would have ownership of the data.

According to today's information, the Apple company would not only want the iCloud services to be integrated into most of the car's functions, but would also like it to be partially autonomous, so it probably has an autonomous guidance software under development in its laboratories.

It was to be expected that Apple would want to integrate iCloud into everything related to its car, but it remains to be seen how many people will be really excited about this and which companies will be willing to collaborate with it, since it wants full control over everything related to the car.
