Romania has 7 million subscribers to television services

Last week the ANCOM announced that there is one in Romania 7 million subscribers to television services, the figure being recorded at the end of 2015, the government agency announcing at that time the same figures we are talking about today.

Of the 7 million subscribers to television services, 4.6 million are subscribers to cable TV services, 2.4 million are subscribers to satellite TV services, and 80.000 use services through IPTV technology, the total figure being up by 4% compared to last year 2014.

The majority of those who have television subscriptions are from urban areas, 60% of the total, while the rest are from rural areas, the total figure being high, but with potential for growth in the coming years, but the number of households without a TV subscription is increasing little.

As for digital television, it attracts more and more consumers, 55% of all those who subscribe to television services benefit from this type of transmission for the TV programs viewed daily.

At the end of 2015, more than 7 million subscribers to services for retransmission of audiovisual programs provided for a fee were registered in Romania, with an annual increase of 4%. Of these, almost 4,6 million are subscribed via cable networks, 2,4 million are subscribed via satellite networks (DTH) and 80 thousand are subscribed via IP technology (IPTV). The penetration rate of audiovisual services at household level exceeded 94%, according to data reported by providers to ANCOM.
Subscribers cable networks represent 65% of the total of those who receive TV programs for a fee, their number increasing during 2015 by 3,8%, up to almost 4,6 million, while 34% of subscribers, i.e. 2,4 million (+4,3 .XNUMX%), benefit from TV programs provided by DTH satellite broadcast networks. Subscribers to relay services via IP technology they have a share of 1% of the total, registering an increase in their number by 26%, up to 80 thousand.
Of the 4,6 million subscribers to retransmission services via cable networks, 1,9 million were receiving services in digital format (up almost 10% from the end of 2014), which means that the penetration rate at of households of digital cable services reached 25%.
Out of the total of over 7 million subscribers to audiovisual program retransmission services, approximately 60% are urban subscribers, and the remaining 40% are rural subscribers. The majority of urban subscribers (81%) benefited from cable services, 17% via DTH satellite, respectively 2% via IP technology. On the other hand, in rural areas, most of the subscribers, 60%, received TV programs via DTH satellite networks, almost 40% via cable networks, the percentage of subscribers via IP technology being slightly significant (0,2 ,XNUMX%).
From the point of view of the way of receiving TV programs, the number of subscribers to media retransmission services in digital format continues to increase, reaching the value of 4,4 million of the total 7 million subscribers, registering an annual growth of 7%. Depending on the medium used, approximately 55% of subscribers received TV programs in digital format via satellite transmission networks (DTH), while 43% accessed these programs via cable networks, and 2% via IP technology (IPTV) .
