Slide to unlock disappears from iPhone or iPad starting with iOS 10

Slide to Unlock disappears from the iPhone starting with iOS 10, making way for the implementation of widgets in the LockScreen.

Slide to unlock it is one of the iconic functions of the iPhone, it has existed since the first model, being patented and even defended in court by the Apple company in front of some companies that tried to copy it in their own smartphones launched on the market.

Although Slide to unlock is directly identifiable with an iPhone, starting with iOS 10 the Apple company will forget this function for iDevices that have integrated Touch ID, it will be replaced with a message telling us to press the Home button to unlock.

I told you yesterday that iOS 10 changes the unlocking method of the iPhone or iPad with Touch ID, the Home button having to be pressed every time we want to unlock, even if the lock screen, LockScreen, is already on beforehand.

Few people noticed the fact that Slide to Unlock disappears from iOS 10 on the terminals that have integrated Touch ID, but most will probably easily get over this change because in the daily use of the iPhone or iPad you eventually get used to situations like this gender.

Now if you wonder why Apple decided to remove Slide to Unlock from iOS 10, well the reason is based on the implementation of widgets in a separate page of LockScreen, the lock screen, this being marked at the bottom of the screen with two points similar to those in Springboard, the main application page.

To access that page of widgets, it is necessary to swipe from left to right, i.e. exactly as you do Slide to Unlock, so that page could no longer be accessed if the Slide to Unlock gesture existed in continuation.

From my point of view, the removal of Slide to Unlock is a move that I won't feel in any way because I use Touch ID for unlocking and I haven't done a swipe in a long time, and that's what Apple relies on, more precisely the fact that users are used to unlocking their terminals in another way.

What do you think ?
