A year and a half after the launch of UBER in Bucharest, the Romanian representatives of the company published a top 25 of the most popular destinations to which the people who chose UBER services in the country's capital were transported.
UBER it is a controversial service because it is not officially registered in the taximeter category, although it uses car drivers to transport people in various areas of the cities, or near them, it is contested in Romania by taxi drivers, but for now it works without problems.
More than 100.000 people have used UBER in Bucharest so far, the figure being quite high considering that we are talking about a service that can only be used by those who have a smartphone, have installed the dedicated application, have a registered account and an attached credit/debit card.
Controversies aside, UBER is a cool service, in the opinion of many people, and that's because people willing to pay, sometimes, a bit more money for taxi services are greeted by clean, air-conditioned cars, disciplined drivers, but and polite.
Based on these premises, here are the most popular UBER destinations in Bucharest:
- Henri Coanda International Airport
- Northern Railway Station
- AFI Palace Cotroceni
- Old Town
- Baneasa Shopping City
- Promenade Mall
- Bitdefender headquarters
- Union square
- Mega Mall
- Directing Campus
- Radisson Blu
- Herăstrau – Kiseleff (H Brewery, BOA, Hard Rock Cafe)
- JW Mariott
- Bucharest Mall
- Control Club
- Victoriei square
- Plaza Romania
- SEMA Park
- Herăstrau – North Road
- Floreasca Park
- Hilton
- Symbio
- Intersection Brezoianu / Lipscani (Energiea / Origo)
- Bucharest University
- Rose Garden Residence Apartments
As expected, the Henri Coanda International Airport is in first place, but the North Railway Station follows it closely, the Afi Palace Controceni mall being placed in third position, the Old Center and Baneasa Shopping City completing a top 5 with locations that many could predict them.
UBER is expanding all over the world, but also in the big cities in Romania, the service being well integrated in our country, with little chance of being taken out of the country, as has already happened in some locations on the planet.
I have used UBER abroad, but not in Romania, but I am curious if you have used UBER in Romania and what was your opinion vis-à-vis the services offered.
