The first Segway smart bag, which recognizes and follows its owner

It seems that in our daily life we are surrounded by smart objects: smartphones, smartwatches, even smart thermostats. But most of us probably did not expect one thing. At a the smart bag that is half robot, half Segway.

The robot, named Olive, was created by the German design team IKAP-robotics. The smart bag looks like a normal travel bag on the outside, but it has some very interesting features. For example, at the bottom, it has a kind of hoverboard on which the user can get on and go, thus escaping the crowds in airports more easily. If you think it's crazy to move through the airport or on the sidewalk with a bag, and an 80-year-old woman looks crossly at you, you can let her move on her own, following you.

Olive is guided with the help of sensors and by means of a stereoscopic camera. The robot is able to recognize and follow its owner with the help of a 3D image processing system and built-in proximity sensors. It can recognize the owner and follow him everywhere, even in a very crowded area.

That's not all Olive can do. The bag is equipped with an alarm that will alert you if you accidentally left it behind, as well as an automatic lock to keep your travel goods safe when removed/used.

What happens if the bag is stolen or lost?

Theoretically, it is not a problem - it is equipped with GPS and 3G / 4G technology, so that you can track it, no matter where in the world it is.

Also, the bag has dedicated smartphone applications, and the connection is made via Bluetooth. Through the application, the owner can unlock the bag and see when someone tries to access the contents without authorization.
