The iPhone 7 processor is just as fast as the iPad Pro

The A10 chip that includes iPhone 7 processor appears today in a first benchmark and shows us what kind of performance the Apple company will offer us for this terminal and iPhone 7 Plus, it being as performant as the A9X chip which is implemented in iPad Pro, which was to be expected.

Practically the new A10 chip with the iPhone 7 processor achieves a score of 3000 points in Geekbench's single-core testie exactly as much as the A9X from the iPad Pro, but the score is 500 points better than the one recorded by the A9 chip implemented by Apple in the iPhone 6S.

20% better performance in the new A10 chip

Making a simple mathematical calculation we find that this chip A10 with the iPhone 7 processor will be 20% more efficient than the A9 chip integrated in the iPhone 6S, and this is gratifying, as the Apple company continues to offer top performance for the smartphones it launches on global markets.

Although this has not been confirmed, the new A10 chip with the iPhone 7 processor is to be manufactured using a 16nm production process, TSMC being the company that will manufacture most of these components, so basically we are talking about the same technology used in the A9 and A9X, the differences in performance being given by the working speed of the cores.

benchmark iPhone 7 processor

If compared to the current A9 chip, the new A10 chip with the iPhone 7 processor has a performance increase of 20%, compared to the old A8 chip the performance increase is almost 50%, and here you will see a very big difference for those who want switch from iPhone 6 to the new smartphone, the performances will be greatly improved.

As fast as iPad Pro

In the iPad Pro tablets, the Apple company uses an A9X chip clocked at different frequencies, more precisely the tablet with a 12.9 inch screen has a processor that works at a frequency of 2.24 GHz, while the iPad Pro 9.7 inch has a processor clocked at 2.16 GHz, the difference in the frequency being low, just like the performance of tablets.

It is difficult to say at what frequency Apple will choose to clock the iPhone 7 processor, but if you were to ask me, I would say that it will opt for the iPad Pro 9.7 inch frequency because of the much smaller screen and the tasks that can be undertaken on a small device, the heat released by the chip also being a problem.

4GB of RAM?

In order to achieve such good performance, Apple also implemented 4 GB of RAM in the A9X chip of the iPad Pro, and now the question arises whether the new A10 chip will have a similar amount of RAM, or whether Apple will decide to stay with the Current 2 GB, proving to be sufficient for most tasks.

A rumor that appeared last month indicates that Apple will implement 3 GB RAM in iPhone 7 Plus for the dual camera, but since then and until now there has been no confirmation of this kind, so it remains only to see the first disassembly of one of the two new terminals to see what the Apple company will offer us.

What do you think about the performance of the new A10 chip and how much RAM do you think we will have in the terminals?

  1. I'm glad, yes. but the iPhone was anyway the fastest phone every time it appeared, not in benchmarks, but in side by side tests with the rest of the flagships. he could also leave the A9 in the iPhone 7, so I'm not upset. After almost a year, the iPhone 6s continues to destroy every other competitor in side-by-side tests of opening and reopening a pre-set set of identical applications.. I hope they will focus on other changes worthy of their reputation, not only on the transformation the processor in a beast :))

  2. I hope it stays at 2gb ram
In this way, the older terminals on the market will also survive, the applications being optimized in containers with 1 and 2 GB of RAM!!!
Otherwise they will break and slowly they will all die!!!

  3. If you don't change the resolution of the devices, I think it will still have 2 GB. However, it will be problematic if I stay with this resolution...

  4. So the processor in the iPhone 7 will be as powerful as the processor that Apple has been using for 1 year in the Ipad Pro.
Interesting that some were happy to hear that.

  5. I don't think that Apple will increase the amount of RAM, because it is expected that the iPhone 7 will not shine. I think that Apple will keep the "icing on the cake" for the anniversary iPhone, when it will increase the RAM, put a new generation of processor (maybe A10 or "Ax"), etc.;
I think that Apple wants to strike again with that iPhone, and does not want to waste resources on the iPhone 7.
