AirPods - that's what the new wireless headphones for the iPhone could be called

In the fall of last year, information appeared that suggested that Apple intends to launch a pair of wireless headphones for the iPhone, a brand patent for the name AirPods causing countless speculations regarding the launch of such a product by the Apple company, many being of the opinion that this will not happen.

iPhone 7 will not have a 3.5mm audio port and although Apple will include an adapter in the box of the device, and a pair of Lightning EarPods will also be sold, the American company still seems to intend to launch a pair of AirPods that will connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to the iPhone or iPad.

The brand patent then submitted for registration was updated this week, and the person who signed the documentation sent to the authorities is called Jonathan Brown, an American publication managing to discover the fact that he is actually one of Apple's lawyers.

Analyzing the current signature and others from past years, including from 2010, plus analyzing the companies where this person worked, the American publication came to the conclusion that she is indeed an employee of Apple and is a lawyer specialized in intellectual property.

While there is some variation between those two signatures and the one on the AirPods trademark document, they have enough in common that we believe these Jonathan Browns are the same person and thus Apple is behind the AirPods trademark application.

Although Apple submitted the application for the registration of the brand patent quite some time ago, it seems to be trying to prolong the granting process as long as possible because when it receives it, it will have to sign a document to certify the fact that he has a product to which he will be assigned.

Considering that AirPods do not seem to be ready for release yet, Apple's intentions to extend the registration process seem as normal as possible, so it could take another 6 months - 1 year until the procedure could be completed , and Apple could take possession of the brand patent.

Having said that, it seems that AirPods is the name of the future wireless headphones for iPhone developed by Apple, but it remains to be seen when they will be ready for release.
