Here is how big is the fine applied to Apple by the European Commission

Today the European Commission officially accused the Apple company of tax evasion and obliges the government of Ireland to recover 13 billion euros, or 14.5 billion dollars, in the form of retroactive tax. An American publication thought to show us how big this amount is in relation to what is happening within Apple, or Silicon Valley.

According to this publication, 13 billion dollars represent:

  • 24.3 million iPhone terminals sold, according to the average selling price for iPhone in Q2 2016;
  • 5 iPhone terminals offered to every resident of Ireland;
  • almost 2 times more than Apple's profit in T2 2016;
  • 27% of the record profit recorded in the whole year 2015;
  • 4 times more than the total profit of Facebook in 2015;
  • 88% of Alphabet's profit in 2015 and more than the entire profit of Google in 2014.

In practice, we are talking about a very large amount and I explained it to you in an article as if Apple had done tax evasion, but it is unlikely that the entire amount will ever be paid.
