Directly from the live presentation of the iPhone 7, I found out just a few minutes ago that Apple really uses the names iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for its new terminals. Those from Apple are currently presenting the two new iPhone models, and below you can read the first information announced by the American company regarding them.
Before moving on to the iPhone 7 news, it should be mentioned that Apple has sold 1 billion iPhone terminals worldwide to date, an absolutely remarkable figure.
Design – the same case, slightly modified
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus share with iPhone 6 the same 2-year-old design, although Apple made a small change, eliminating the antennas that separate the case into 3 distinct parts. Now the entire case is made of a single piece of aluminum, on which the Apple logo is enthroned.
Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have new cameras, both larger, one simple and one dual, but the difference is insignificant for the overall design. What you will notice very easily is that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus no longer have a 3.5mm audio port for headphones, but Apple will include an adapter in the terminal box to allow the connection of old headphones.
Apple uses a black color called jet black, which is glossy like that of the Mac Pro 2013, so the rumors were true.
Separately, Apple uses a new black color, called simply black, it is a matte black that also has a glossy logo.
Apple will continue to sell iPhone 7 in gold, silver and pink colors.
Home button 3D Touch
Apple has completely redesigned the Home button of iPhone 7, it is now customizable with the help of a special menu, but it will be tactile and will have Force Touch feedback through 3D Touch.
The new Home 3D Touch button has a new Force Touch system that generates vibrations, including for messages, notifications, ringtones, but also for some new actions.
Water and dust resistance
Yes, and here the rumors are true, the iPhone 7 being water and dust resistant with IP67 certification, so you will be able to use it at a maximum of 2 meters under water for a maximum of 30 minutes without problems.
IPhone 7 camera
The iPhone 7 camera has an optical image stabilizer, it allows an exposure up to 3 times longer than before, it has an f/1.8 aperture that allows 50% more light to enter the camera.
There is a 6-lens module in the 12-megapixel camera, the sensor being 60% faster and consuming 30% less energy.
There is also a new True Tone LED flash with 4 LEDs that offers 50% stronger light, a blink sensor for ambient light compensating for the brightness of the surrounding light.
Apple has created a special image processor to radically improve the quality of recorded photos, it does half the magic.
iOS 10 registers multiple images, registers the objects in them, analyzes them and applies a multitude of effects to combine multiple images into the best possible image.
The new image processor performs 1 billion operations in 25 milliseconds to allow us to capture the best possible photos with iPhone 7.
Apple also allows the editing of Live Photos and of course there is the possibility to record RAW images for editing, as well as more colors than before.
The front camera now has 7 megapixels for better video calls and clearer selfies. Apple uses a new technology to record clearer pictures and with a greater range of colors, image stabilization being done through software by iOS 10.
The dual camera of the iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 7 Plus has a double camera implemented by the Apple company, it is composed of 2 image sensors of 12 megapixels to record pictures in wide and telephoto format.
The dual camera of the iPhone 7 Plus will record pictures for which we will be able to change the focus in the pictures, but also to change the zoom for the pictures, even after they have been recorded.
The two cameras record multiple pictures to offer us this functionality, they being combined so that they can be edited by us and have a better quality.
The Camera application has a special button that allows us to record wide or telephoto photos using the dual camera of the iPhone 7 Plus, so we choose either of the two cameras as needed.
The dual camera of the iPhone 7 Plus has a digital zoom of up to 5x, or a software zoom of up to 10x, so we will be able to record pictures from much greater distances than the object we are facing.
Through software, the Apple company analyzes the images recorded by us and creates 3D maps of the environment, all thanks to an artificial intelligence that learns as we take new pictures.
The function of showing the depth of the elements in the images recorded by us, the effects being displayed in real time on the screens, a function that even DSLR devices do not have.
Moreover, now the Camera application of iOS 10 is able to figure out who are the people in the pictures recorded by us and blur the background behind them to put the people in the foreground.
All of these new features for the iPhone 7 Plus camera will be offered through an update to be offered for iOS 10 later this year.
Screen
The iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels, while the iPhone 7 Plus has a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Basically, the same specifications for diagonal and resolution as 2 years ago, but Apple made True Tone screens, which means they have a much lower update rate, understand touches faster and display more natural colors.
Apple has taken over the True Tone technology from the iPad Pro tablets and is successfully offering it in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus starting this fall along with a much better user experience.
The screen is 25% brighter, has a larger range of colors, but also has a new 3D Touch, plus a more efficient color management system.
The Instagram application will have a special function that will benefit from the new, larger range of colors, so that we will see much clearer and more vibrant colors directly on the screens of our terminals. Of course, there will be a series of filters that will use the special APIs for this new range of colors, so updates to the applications will be required.
stereo speakers
For the first time in the history of Apple, there are stereo speakers, they are 2 times stronger than those in the iPhone 6S, they are placed in the upper and lower part of the case.
Lightning EarPods
Yes, all those rumors are true, now we will have EarPods Lightning headphones that will connect to the 900 million iDevices that have a Lightning port.
The new headphones will be included in the iPhone 7 box by Apple and of course they will come with an adapter that will allow you to connect standard headphones available worldwide.
Apple says it has the courage to take a step forward and leave behind the 3.5mm port, maintaining this component has no logic for Apple in the context of current technological developments.
AirPods
AirPods turn from rumor into reality, with the company announcing their release to allow wireless music listening, something that everyone has been waiting for.
The headphones have infrared sensors that detect when they are in the ear to start listening to music, a motion sensor allowing us to activate strings, and accelerometers in the company with a microphone eliminate ambient noises.
AirPods work up to 5 hours without charging, a special case offering them up to 24 hours of autonomy.
The headphones can be intelligently connected to the iPhone or Apple Watch without problems, they have an incredible sound thanks to the audio technologies offered by Apple.
Connecting AirPods with iPhone or Apple Watch is done almost instantly, and through iCloud we can transfer between our terminals all the customization options for headphones.
The headphones work in stereo, or we can switch and listen to one headphone using a simple command from Siri.
Apple uses a W1, wireless 1 chip in the AirPods, which has two accelerometers, two optical sensors, a microphone, a battery, an antenna and a second microphone.
Together with these headphones, Apple launches Beats 3, Powerbeats 3 and Beats x for all customers.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay will be launched in new countries this year, and Japan will be among them, where it will offer support for Felica, as was rumored just a few weeks ago.
Apple Watch 2 will offer the same support for Felica in Japan.
Processor and RAM
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with an A10 chip that benefits from Fusion technology, but there are some pretty big differences between the two devices. The processor included in this new A10 chip is clocked at 2.4 GHz on both terminals, according to some rumors, but the iPhone 7 has 2 GB DDR 4 RAM, while the iPhone 7 Plus has 3 GB DDR 4 RAM.
The difference between the amount of RAM memory is due to the fact that the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual camera that requires more processing power for filming and taking pictures. Both terminals are still going to record 4K video clips at 30 FPS, so they are very powerful, about 40% more powerful than their predecessors.
Inside the new A10 chip, Apple has included an M10 motion co-processor that consumes less energy, but does GPS localization, has an accelerometer, and a gyroscope.
The new A10 Fusion chip is up to 4 times more powerful than the A8 chip launched by Apple, the performance increase being 120x compared to the iPhone.
The new A10 Fusion chip has 4 cores, so we are talking about a quad-core processor, the first slow iPhone, Apple making the decision in real time which are clocked at a higher or lower frequency. Apple has created a special chip that decides which processors are clocked at the higher frequency.
There is a new graphics card, it is 50% faster than the one in the A9 chip and 3x faster than in the A8 chip, consuming two thirds of the energy required by the A9 chip card.
Battery
Apple does not say what batteries the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have, but it claims that they have the best autonomy ever offered in an iPhone.
The iPhone 7 will offer 2 hours more autonomy than the iPhone 6S, compared to the iPhone 6S Plus, the autonomy is 1 hour longer on the iPhone 7 Plus.
LTE 4G
In the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple offers 4G LTE connectivity of up to 450 Mbps for users on networks that support this speed.
PRICE
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will have the same prices as their predecessors in Europe, so we are talking about a basic price of 700-730 euros for the basic models of the iPhone 7. In the case of the iPhone 7 Plus, the basic price will start from at 800 - 830 euros, but both models will have at least 32 GB of storage space.
The price in the US is going to start at 650 dollars without taxes. Apple will offer iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB of storage space.
Unfortunately, the glossy black iPhone 7 is only available for models with 128 GB and 256 GB of storage space.
RELEASE
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are to be launched on September 16 in 10 countries around the world, with Apple starting a pre-order session on September 9 to allow their purchase in advance.
Pre-orders start on September 9th, initial release from September 16th to include many countries in Europe.
In Romania, the iPhone 7 will be launched on September 23, just one week after the official launch in the first 20 countries.
