The gold Apple Watch Edition had a starting price of $10.000 in the US, and the Apple Watch 2 Edition has a starting price of $1269 because it is made of ceramic. Practically, the price has dropped 9 times, but it is still much more expensive than many people would like, competing with the prices charged by Apple for stainless steel models.
The ceramic Apple Watch 2 replaces the gold model
Even if the Apple Watch 2 Edition still remains an expensive model, there will be many people who will buy it, just because it has a case made of ceramic. The interior and the screen are identical as in the case of the stainless steel Apple Watch 2, but the prices are similar, so the choice of one or the other depends only on everyone's preferences.
