Europe opposes WhatsApp and Facebook

Europe is trying to oppose Facebook's intentions to take over users' data from WhatsApp Messenger.

The company's attempt Facebook to deceive users from all over the world and transfer their data from WhatsApp in its own servers, it faces tough opposition from Europe. A few days ago, Germany banned the Facebook company from taking data from WhatsApp in relation to the Germans who use the application, this being the first major blow for Facebook.

Now Great Britain is preparing to take the same decision, the authorities investigating the transparency with which those from Facebook would intend to do this procedure. The authorities in Great Britain have initiated a large-scale investigation to analyze what Facebook wants to do, and in the end they could make exactly the same decision as those in Germany.

The British minister for information claims that WhatsApp users in Great Britain have complained about Facebook's intentions, and the authorities are listening to them. British users do not want Facebook to take their data from WhatsApp, considering that they were promised that this would not happen, and the authorities could block everything in the coming weeks.

Separated from Germany and Great Britain, Facebook's intentions also attracted the attention of the European Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager. It is known to attach great importance to the protection of user data, so Facebook will have very little chance of realizing its plans as it wanted.

There's a lot of anger out there. And again it goes back to promises, commitment, fairness and transparency. We have launched an investigation into the data-sharing, remembering that in 2014 when Facebook bought WhatsApp there was a commitment made that between the two companies they would not share information.

The European Commissioner claims that all the countries in the European Union must collaborate and a unique legislation is needed to control large data transfers of this kind. For now, there is no legislation of this kind, so she will have to work with what she has and there are very high chances that Facebook will not receive the consent of the authorities to retrieve data from WhatsApp.

Everything is based on the fact that in 2014 we were promised that the data would not be taken over, but now Facebook has changed its mind, and everyone blames the company, so its plans could change.
