iPhone 7 – problems with connecting Bluetooth to cars

The iPhone 7 has problems connecting via Bluetooth to cars, BMW ones are mainly affected, but they are not the only ones with problems.

iPhone 7 has problems with Bluetooth, and apart from the impossibility of connecting it to the Android Wear smartwatch, it seems that cars don't like the terminal either. Many owners of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have started to complain on the forums that their terminals cannot connect via Bluetooth to the cars they own.

The problem seems to mainly affect BMW cars, regardless of the model we are talking about, but connecting via Bluetooth to other types of cars is also problematic, although BMW is affected the most. Those from BMW have recognized the problem and say that the terminal is not one of those certified to work with their cars, for now.

The problems with connecting the iPhone 7 via Bluetooth to cars, regardless of the model, vary from the inability to make the connection to the interruption of the sound, frequent disconnections from the infotainment systems, the inability to listen to music via Bluetooth completely or for more than 5 – 10 seconds, blocking the ConnectedDrive system and many others.

The problem occurs mainly for listening to music in the car via Bluetooth using iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the phone function not being affected for now. Regardless of the version of iOS 10 installed on the terminals, users have exactly the same problems, so there is currently no method to solve the problem, but at least the telephony function is not affected.

Here's what BMW had to say about the iPhone 7 problem with connecting via Bluetooth to their cars: "We are aware of the problems you refer to and we are working with Apple to make iPhone 7 compatible with our cars. At this moment, the iPhone 7 is not an approved terminal for our cars until we complete the testing period. We do not currently have an estimate for the completion of iPhone 7 testing.”

Basically, those from BMW do not have a solution for the Bluetooth problems of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but there was nothing else to expect from the manufacturer. Those from Apple reacted differently, instead, and stated that they are working on a solution for customers' problems, it will be offered in a later update, most likely iOS 10.0.3.

Until then, just use the phone function of the iPhone 7 with your cars.
