Apple will sell fewer Apple Watches in 2016

Despite the fact that Apple launched two new models of the Apple Watch in 2016, the American company will sell fewer units on global markets this year. The information comes from a renowned Asian analyst who believes that both Apple Watch series 1 and Apple Watch 2 lack applications that would make them really attractive.

Moreover, the low autonomy of the battery, the dependence on the iPhone and the multitouch interface that is not suitable for such a product, prevent many people from buying it. Apple Watch has not affected Fitbit's sales in any way and the analyst believes that the new models will not have a serious impact this year.

Based on these estimates regarding the reasons on the basis of which customers will avoid the Apple Watch, the analyst believes that sales will decrease by 15% - 25% this year compared to last year. Basically, we are talking about 8.5 - 9 million units sold during the 2016 fiscal year, a setback for the Apple company, something that those from Cupertino were trying to avoid.

Apple does not disclose the sales it records for the Apple Watch and a variety of other products of its own, so no one knows exactly how much it sells. Despite this, a variety of companies are currently making estimates regarding smartwatch sales, but no one knows how real or fake they are at the moment.

"Based on the previously mentioned reasons, we are revising our estimates regarding Apple Watch sales for 2016 from 10 - 10.5 million units to 8.5 - 9 million units. We now estimate that Apple Watch sales will decline compared to the same period in 2015, when it was available on global markets for only 8 months."

Considering that last year the Apple Watch had such a short period of availability on the market, a decrease in sales in 2016 would be a serious problem for Apple. The reality is that the Apple Watch doesn't have really great features for a product in its category, and Apple needs something really interesting to convince people to buy it.
