iPhone 7 and 6S locked in iCloud with unknown Apple IDs

Owners of iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S woke up with terminals locked in iCloud Activation Lock with unknown Apple IDs.

A new problem affects new terminal owners iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, or the old iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, the Activation Lock system being the one that is now to blame for the problems. According to a large number of users, new products cannot be activated after installing an iOS backup because they are locked in iCloud with unknown Apple IDs.

According to Apple customers with problems, in an attempt to activate the previously mentioned terminals, iCloud shows them an unknown Apple ID for which they had to enter the password. Without knowing the Apple ID password, they were left with blocked terminals because their own Apple ID was not displayed and there was no possibility to change the existing one.

The problem affects apparently new iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus terminals, but also the old ones that have been restored to the initial settings, so we are talking about an error generated by Apple's servers. Although it might be thought that we are talking about previously used iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus terminals, considering that the problem also affects other old terminals, everything has to do with Apple.

Contacted by customers to solve the problems, those from Apple stated that all iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, etc., blocked in iCloud with unknown Apple IDs must be replaced. A clear explanation for the problem was not provided, but Activation Lock was disabled on some terminals in the Apple Store after the purchase was proven with an invoice by the customer.

"Just received my brand new 256GB Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus. Looks immaculate, screen is perfect, machining all fine… Only problem is, it appears someone has already used it as the iPhone is asking for the account used to activate it — o…..@icloud.com. Apple say it needs replacing […] Now got to wait for an expedited replacement iPhone once I've returned this one."

The problem is that in some cases Activation Lock was unexpectedly changed by iOS, so that users found their terminals locked after switching to another product. Unfortunately, no one knows what happened, but the Apple company seems to have major problems with Activation Lock at the moment, revealing at the same time email addresses that should have been protected.

"I purchased an iPhone 6s full-price and outright directly from an Apple Store in September 2015. The phone was unlocked (I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon after I purchased it without issue). I recently purchased an iPhone 7 Plus and after that phone was activated on Verizon's network, the iPhone 6s now indicates that it has an "Activation Lock." It is also linked to some unknown iCloud account (not the account I activated it with or have been using it with for close to a full year).”

If you encounter this problem, the only solution is to contact a authorized Apple service and ask for help to solve the problem.
