Apple considered buying Time Warner

Apple has discussed multiple times with representatives of Time Warner regarding a possible acquisition, but AT&T could take it first.

The Apple company is very interested in acquiring Time Warner, one of the largest media trusts in the US, which also produces feature films. Time Warner is in advanced discussions with AT&T regarding a possible sale, the amount circulated being approximately 85 billion dollars, a colossal one.

Those from Apple are monitoring the discussions between AT&T and Time Warner, and in recent months they have had several discussions regarding a possible acquisition. Although Apple and Tme Warner had discussions, they did not reach an advanced stage until this moment and now there is no active negotiation between the two American companies.

In January, it was circulated that Apple would like to buy Time Warner, then the information stated that the discussions are in an early stage. It seems that in recent months nothing has changed from this point of view, so that Apple has not come any closer to buying the US media giant.

Apple " Inc. a few months ago approached Time Warner Inc. about pursuing a combination, but the discussions did not progress beyond a preliminary stage and none are currently under way, people familiar with the matter said Friday. From Apple's end, executives under Chief Executive Tim Cook were involved in the earlier talks, and now Apple is monitoring the current situation, one of the people said."

Apple wants to buy Time Warner

Although Apple is interested in buying Time Warner, their inability to do so has led to the development of their own media projects. In this idea, the Apple company invests in several TV shows and bought a very popular one, and if Time Warner will be bought, then they will be integrated into the Time Warner offer.

"Whether we're providing it or somebody else is, it really doesn't matter to us. What we're trying to do is build the platform that allows anyone to get content to consumers. If a Time Warner [Cable] or a DirecTV wants to offer a bundle themselves, they should do it through Apple TV and iPad and iPhone. As a matter of fact, I'm not a big fan of the skinny bundle."

Without buying Time Warner yet, Apple has already hired a former vice president of the company and will probably attract more employees of the media trust. With Time Warner, Apple can finally fulfill its plan to launch an online TV subscription, but it would have a vast source of multimedia content for iDevice/Macs and Apple TV 4.

Of course, no one knows if Apple will buy Time Warner before AT&T, but it remains to be seen what will happen.
